Bathroom Renovation
Renovation and Refurbishment of Multiple Restrooms in a Listed Building in Berlin Spandau
Siemens Energy, Berlin Spandau
Completion: 2025
Full project // approx. 60 m²
In collaboration with FC Planung (building services) and Sebastian Summa (industrial designer)
A comprehensive renovation of a restroom core is being carried out in a laboratory building dating from 1958, designed by architect Walter Henn. The existing facilities are being completely stripped out and the layouts redesigned to maximize user comfort.
As the building is listed, the design is being developed in close collaboration with the heritage protection authorities. The renovation takes a sensitive approach to the existing architecture. Significant features, such as the glass-block skylights and the integrated, tiled toilet cubicles, are being meticulously reconstructed with the utmost craftsmanship and precision.
In addition, a unique lighting installation has been developed in collaboration with Berlin-based designer Sebastian Summa. Inspired by the electrical components developed by Siemens Energy in the building's laboratories, the installation harmoniously complements the overall spatial concept.
